The NET Charter High School serves students who have dropped out of or been expelled from high school or who have struggled academically or behaviorally in traditional settings. The school’s name stands for: meeting N eeds, raising E xpectations, T raining for life. Students at The NET earn a high school diploma and participate in internships with area employers in various fields. Our students leave school with the skills, confidence and experience to succeed in the career and education path of their choice.

EQA exists to serve the young people of New Orleans most vulnerable to dropping out of school. It has three high school campuses, The NET: Central City, The NET: Gentilly, and The NET: East. EQA also serves middle school students through The Bridge Middle School, a therapeutic program for 7th and 8th graders, the NEST an early childcare center, and a myriad of wrap-around supports. All EQA programs are built on the belief that alternative schools should not punish or "fix" young people; they should be vibrant, flexible, and restorative environments that support students in being their best selves.
Position Summary
The NET: East seeks a Real World Learning Coordinator to manage its Real World Learning (RWL) program. This program involves all aspects of bringing “the world” into the school and bringing students out into “the world” with its primary focus being on running a robust internship program. NET students need the opportunity to be immersed in a variety of professional settings and to access professional mentors. These experiences and networks help students develop their future p lans, gain valuable soft skills, and connect their academic learning with the world around them.
The RWL Coordinator's primary responsibilities are to:
Each year students participate in approximately 100 professional internships across the city. The RWL Coordinator is responsible for making this possible.
Every class at The NET strives to connect students’ assignments and learning to real-world projects, and real-world problems in the spirit of “Beautiful, Meaningful Work .” The RWL Coordinator is responsible for helping teachers create these connections
EQA believes that much of the best learning happens outside of the classroom and is committed to providing students multiple opportunities to study and engage outside of the high school building. In addition to internships, this takes the form of dual enrollment, CTE programming, excursions and more. The RWL Coordinator is responsible for building and managing the partnerships that make this happen.
